overview

Hannah is available to play for product launches, exhibition openings, corporate dinners, weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, christenings and other celebrations. Hannah has a broad repertoire, gathered over many years, and is comfortable playing in many different styles and genres, including pop, classical and Scottish and Irish music. A song list is available.

Hannah is comfortable in all settings, from small parties in people's homes through to huge events with hundreds of people attending.

Hannah plays on a Lyon and Healy pedal harp. Hannah also plays on a Starfish clarsach (the traditional Scottish harp). Clarsach is particularly suitable for Scottish themed weddings and also for smaller venues.

Biography

Experience: Hannah has played for literally hundreds of weddings and events across Scotland, and at many of the most prestigious venues in the country. Her first engagement on moving to Scotland was playing for the opening (by the then Prince Charles) of the Glasshouse at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh. She is a regular at the Royal College of Physicians and Prestonfield House, has played at Edinburgh Castle on numerous occasions, and has performed at Holyrood Palace, on board the Royal Yacht Britannia, and at castles and stately homes and up and down the land. She has played for opening VIP nights at the Edinburgh international film festival, and has also twice been part of the line-up by Sky Arts at the Edinburgh International TV Festival. She has also performed at an eclectic range of shows at the Edinburgh Fringe over the years, and recently gave a solo recital of her poetry and harp compositions at the Harp and Story Festival, in Stroud, England. In May 2025 she performed with clarinet player, John Levine, at the screening of acclaimed film, ‘Paper Portraits’ by Gerda Stevenson, at the Cameo Cinema in central Edinburgh.

Qualifications: Hannah holds a diploma in harp performance (ARSM, with distinction). She also has Grade 8 harp, again, with distinction. Hannah also holds a first class honours degree in Politics from Durham University and is currently studying Participatory Arts at postgraduate level, at Queen Margaret University. Hannah also has a music teaching diploma from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of music (ARSM, music teaching). As a youngster, Hannah studied the harp at the junior department of the Royal College of Music in London, and with Charlotte Seale at the junior department of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. At both colleges she was a Junior Exhibitioner (on full music scholarship). Scroll down for venues.

FEEs

Exact fees are dependent on:

  • the whereabouts of the venue (travel costs)

  • how long you might need me for

  • Any special requests for music (although the chances are I already know all your favourites anyway)

The figures below are given as rough guidelines only. Please contact me for an exact quote.

Weddings (2025 season)

for ceremony only: from £195 (plus travel time / mileage)

for a 2-hour slot (see the note below): from £215 (plus travel time / mileage)

for a 3-hour slot (see the note below): from £275 (plus travel time / mileage)

Generally for weddings I would anticipate being set up and ready to play from 30 minutes before the ceremony was due to start, to entertain your guests as they arrive. Thus, say for a 1pm ceremony, if you booked a 2-hour slot, this would run from 12.30pm-2.30pm, so I would play for the arriving guests, through the ceremony, and then stay on to play for the first part of the drinks reception.

Corporate Events & Special Occasions (2025 Rates)

for up to 1 hour of background music: from £185 (plus travel time / mileage)

for up to 2 hours of background / ambient music: from £215 (plus travel time / mileage)

for up to 3 hours of background / ambient music: from £275 (plus travel time / mileage)

for up to 4 hours of background / ambient music: from £335 (plus travel time / mileage)

EVENTS HARPIST: Sound Clips & Song List

Here is a short youtube film showing extracts of some of the tunes I am most often asked to play. Below that is my song list. If your favourite tune is not listed, do check with me, as I may well already play it. And even if not, I am often able to learn new music for clients.

Song List

Click on songs highlighted in turquoise to hear them.
* = pedal harp only (i.e. I don’t currently have a version of this tune that works for clarsach)

+ = hymn or song that could be deemed religious. This is important to know for civil or humanist ceremonies. Different celebrants interpret the rules on religious music in different ways. Some celebrants will not allow any religious music at all. Others are happy with it, so long as it is purely instrumental with no singing. Always check with your particular celebrant.
